Inspiration:

My self mantra I set for the year of 2025 is gratitude. I wanted to incorporate this idea into my personal banner. My family plays a big part in my life and they are who I am extremely grateful for. Our family has an interesting connection to birds; they are just something we always pay attention to and we are aware of many different species of birds all across the world. My dad loves to take photos of birds and even has a whole Instagram dedicated to his bird photography. We pay attention to the importance of little things in life. For example, in spring of 2024, my older sister noticed a pair of Sandhill Crane birds creating a nest and laying eggs. This nest was located on her daily walking route near where she attended school at the University of Central FL. Sandhill Cranes nesting is very unique because they essentially make a mound of collected sticks in the middle of a pond or lake and they just sit on the eggs until they are ready to hatch. This pair of birds had laid their eggs on my birthday, March 10th. My sister observed the birds at this spot almost everyday, up until the day the eggs hatched, which coincidentally was on her birthday: April 12th. This was an extremely special "small moment" for us because these birds had laid their nest and had their eggs hatch on both of our birthdays. This story is very drawn out but, I am grateful and inspired by it.

So for my personal banner, I wanted to incorporate the scene of two Sandhill Cranes and some text around the word gratitude.

Pinterest Inspiration:

On my recent trip to Ireland, I found a lot of inspiration in patterns and shapes that were used in architecture, plates, pottery, and glass windows. Here are two photo examples of this that I took while I was in Ireland:

My Sketches:

I want to try experimenting with painting on fabric or using felt. I think that it would be interesting to use a repeating print from a carved block and use that to create my shapes.

My Sketches:

I want to incorporate a pattern of seashell mono printing. I am inspired by the natural patterns that each shell creates uniquely. I also am interested in incorporating some organic shapes that resemble coral. I want to experiment with different beads stitched throughout the piece as well as pearls. I want to try using paint on fabric as well as some stitching.
